Grand Cru Ananasrenette

We call the Ananasrenette “Everybody’s Darling” for good reason. With such a name, it's bound to be fresh, fruity, and just a bit cheeky. But what lies behind an apple with such an endearing and intriguing name? Likely, a noble heritage and a mysterious, unresolved origin. Traces lead back to Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands in the 18th or 19th century. It’s certain that during the previous century, there were countless orchards with nearly as many apple varieties. Amidst this fierce competition, the Ananasrenette stood out with its blend of charm and character, earning the title “Everybody’s Darling.” Its rapid rise began in South Tyrol, but it faced a setback at the start of industrial apple production a hundred years later.
On the sunny slopes of the Ritten, with fresh air, ideal soil, and most importantly, skilled hands, the Ananasrenette thrives once more. Juicy, spicy in flavour, with a hint of pineapple – some also detect notes of citrus or cassis – this historic apple variety is perfect for producing single-variety mountain apple juice, allowing it to showcase its best traits once again: fresh, fruity, and just a little cheeky.
